2010 Nantasket Beach

Jen took me to visit Nantasket Beach, on Massachusetts Bay on an almost-raining Sunday afternoon in June. Jen played at this beach in the summers when she was a kid. We were there on probably the last weekend before most schools were out for the summer. The water was still clearly too cold for swimming. We walked a mile or so on the sand.

Jen, at the beach. It was foggy and grey.
The beach is sandy with a surprising variety of small stones. Some stretches of the beach had very few stones, and in others it was more like a 50/50 mix. This was looking to the south.
A view of the beach to the north from where we started our walk. You can see three surfers in the water, wearing black wet suits to keep warm.
Looking to the east across Massachusetts Bay. Nantasket Beach is southeast of Boston.
A seagull.
You get a sense of how well the seagull's markings camoflage it in the surf.
Near the end of our walk, at the southern end of the beach, it was foggy. The tide was going out and created a shallow tidal pool between the beach and a dune further out into the bay (where the waves are breaking).
It was just cold enough to wear a light jacket.
