3.2. Installing from a CD-ROM

I have not attempted an installation from CD-ROM, but since the built-in SCSI adapter is supported by the AHA152x driver, I see no reason why it should not work. However, this adapter does not have a BIOS ROM and thus will not be automatically detected by the kernel, so

aha152x=0x340,11,7,0

option has to be specified on the LILO boot command line and later in the options that the Slackware setup program offers to add when configuring LILO. Note that both "no-hlt" and "aha152x=0x340,11,7,0" have to be specified, separated by a space character. Thus, if the CD-ROM installation kit provides a Slackware-like boot disk, the boot command line should look like:

ramdisk no-hlt aha152x=0x340,11,7,0

Again, one has to choose a kernel with support for the AHA152x SCSI adapter and later provide the above boot command line options to whatever boot loader is used: LILO, LOADLIN...

Note that the trailing zero disables the reconnect option. This might not be needed, but I have been experiencing spurious problems with some of my SCSI peripherals when I enable it (hangs). I have been running with reconnect disabled since then (your mileage may vary).
